Is Google AdWords Worth The Investment?
There was a time that I didn’t think so. But over the last 5+ years, search engines and social media have become a pay-for-growth landscape, and organic efforts alone don’t work. It didn’t seem too long ago that you could grow your audience and footprint by just being in that space. But organizations like Google, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, and more have learned that they can make money on the masses.
Questions to consider:
- How do we incorporate paid advertising to work alongside our organic efforts?
- How much does it cost to get started?
- How long will I have to invest?
- Will this lead to new business?
Organic + Paid Advertising
Let’s say you’ve spent some time developing your organic content by implementing SEO tactics and keyword research. If not, you have some work to do, and we can help. SEO development is a great tool to use, and if done correctly, can lead to new business. Good keyword-rich content, landing pages, and funnel building are all great organic marketing tactics.
However, if you want to supercharge your business growth, pairing Organic (SEO) with Google Adwords is the way to go.
I know you may be asking yourself, “why?” If you are already investing in organic marketing and seeing some results, why would you need to use Google AdWords?
The answer is to grow beyond your competition, which has stopped at organic SEO development. Doing the minimum when it comes to your marketing only puts you in an overcrowded group of competitors. Email marketing, Google AdWords, and retargeting are often separating factors.
How much does it cost to get started?
I’m going to be honest that the buy-in for Google AdWords can be a little pricey and have a sticker shock to it. It’s most likely because you have not been investing anything in paid advertising, so any cost will have an impact. But Google AdWords has two distinct parts.
- Management Fees (these are services for setup, monitoring and performance evaluation, and ongoing adjustments)
- It’s important to consider that managing Google Ads isn’t like posting on Facebook. For example, our team is certified by Google, which requires intensive training to ensure you are adequately prepared.
- Ad Buy (this is your budget used for each Ad Group)
- This is the actual budget given to Google directly to place your advertising in front of people.
“Out of all marketing efforts (organic, social media, website, etc.), Google Adwords has the highest success rate of attaining new business quickly.”
How much does it cost to get started?
Think of Google AdWords a little like the stock market. You only make money when you take part. If you invest for a year, you’ll see significant benefits. But similar to the stock market, once you step out, all of the benefits vanish. When you invest for several years, the gains pile up. Combined with the attrition of advertising and ongoing maintenance, you’ll be in a great place.
There is a minimum time we suggest to take part, and that is six months. This will allow us to develop the right ad groups and collect enough data to make strategic adjustments. We recommend everyone is prepared to invest for much longer than six months, however. 99% of our clients receive enough business to more than makeup for the Google AdWords costs.
Will this lead to new business?
I’d love to tell you with 100% certainty YES! However, it does depends on your products and services. Your industry, customer profile, budget, and competition are all critical factors. We usually suggest a historical performance review or a brand audit before getting started. After all, if you are selling screwdrivers for $150, no advertising is going to help. Your price point is off.
But if we can set expectations and position your products/services competitively, I believe we can say YES to that new business.
Out of all marketing efforts (organic, social media, website, etc.), Google Adwords has the highest success rate of attaining new business quickly. It’s effective advertising.
We understand that this can be a little overwhelming. We’d love the chance to speak with you about taking this next step.
